Andrew Collins is General Counsel for theGROUP. In this role, he serves as the firm’s chief compliance officer and legal advisor. He also provides clients with strategic advice and solutions on a broad range of regulatory issues, and undertakes a diverse set of additional responsibilities to enhance the firm’s competitiveness.
Collins previously served with the U.S. Senate Banking Committee where he supported professional staff on the implementation of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act, focusing on consumer protections and housing finance reform, among other congressional priorities.
While obtaining his law degree, Collins spent a semester studying E.U. banking law at King's College London. During that time, he worked in the Northern Trust office of the General Counsel-International where he supported the institution’s compliance with U.S. and E.U. financial laws. He earlier worked with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights serving low-income residents in Boston, and interned with General Electric’s patent litigation team. Collins was honored to serve as a member of President Barack Obama's inaugural class of White House interns.
During President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, Collins served as a voter protection attorney and GOTV canvassing manager in Virginia and Florida, and organized voters in 2008. He also played a role in grassroots operations within the DNC during the 2004 Kerry-Edwards presidential campaign.
A product of both Florida and Georgia, Collins received his law degree from Boston College Law School and an MBA from Florida A&M University where he was elected Student Body President and served as a member of the University’s Board of Trustees. He is Treasurer of the Washington Bar Association and a member of the Illinois State Bar and the D.C. Bar.
