Andrew M. Collins is Senior Counsel for theGROUP, serving as the firm’s chief legal advisor and compliance officer, as well as providing clients with strategic advice and solutions on a broad range of regulatory issues.
Previously, Collins served with the U.S. Senate Banking Committee where he supported professional staff on the implementation of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform law with an emphasis on SEC, CFTC and Federal Reserve rulemaking. His focus also included an array of congressional priorities, encompassing investor protections, housing finance, nuclear counter-proliferation sanctions, and the annual budget.
Collins studied EU bank regulatory law at the Dickson Poon School of Law at King's College London while supporting the EMEA legal department of Northern Trust where he focused on U.S. tax law, Basel III, and EU directives governing sovereign wealth funds and institutional investors. He served with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Economic Justice assisting in legal matters confronting low-income and minority residents in Boston, MA. Collins also worked alongside the patent litigation team of General Electric. In 2009, Collins was a member of President Barack Obama's inaugural class of White House interns.
Throughout his career, Collins has been involved in several political campaigns. During the 2012 campaign to re-elect President Obama, Collins served as a voter protection attorney and GOTV canvassing manager in Virginia and Florida, and organized voters in 2008. He also played a role in grassroots operations within the DNC during the 2004 Kerry-Edwards presidential campaign.
A product of both Florida and Georgia, Collins holds a JD from Boston College Law School, and an MBA and BS in Finance from Florida A&M University where he served as a member of the University Board of Trustees, NAACP Chapter President, and President of the Student Government Association. He is Treasurer of the Washington Bar Association and a member of the Illinois State Bar and the D.C. Bar.
