February 11, 2014 – The Collins│Johnson group is pleased to announce that Nicole Isaac has joined our firm as a Principal. Isaac was most recently a Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, where she guided President Obama’s policy priorities before the Judiciary, Financial Services and Appropriations Committees of the U.S. House of Representatives.
On announcing the addition of Isaac, Founding Partner Art Collins said, “Nicole is widely respected for her ability to bridge the gap between politics, fiscal and foreign policy. She will play a strong role in executing sharp, creative solutions that move our clients’ business objectives forward.”
As a Special Assistant to the President, Isaac was chief liaison to nearly 100 Members of Congress. And she was known for her effective oversight of tough legislative issues, ranging from telecommunications and intellectual property reform to immigration and housing finance.
Especially significant, Isaac’s work helped to galvanize support for some of the biggest first-term achievements of the Obama administration, including the Affordable Care Act, Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, Export-Import Reauthorization Act, and the Innovation Act. Prior to serving as a legislative advisor to the President, Isaac was Deputy Legislative Director for the Office of the Vice President.

Isaac’s leadership expertise was honed, in part, from years of service in both houses of Congress. Earlier in her career, she was a Floor Counsel to Senate Assistant Majority Leader Richard Durbin (D-IL) and a lead Counsel to the Democratic Caucus Committee on Organization, Study and Review. She also served as an Assistant Counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Office of Legislative Counsel.
Additionally, her international and legal background includes a clerkship with the Honorable Dikgang Moseneke, Deputy Chief Justice of South Africa and the Constitutional Court, as well as stints with the U.S. Department of State, Securities & Exchange Commission, Government Accountability Office, NGO’s in Geneva and South Africa, and prominent law firms in New York and Paris.
Isaac holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs from Columbia University. She also earned a Master of Studies (LLM equivalent) in International Human Rights Law from Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
